Frontend Developer resume example

Tie interface work to speed, accessibility and conversion numbers a hiring manager can picture.

Below: what to put in the summary, six sample bullets with numbers, the skills worth listing, and the mistakes that show up most. The sample resume is a fictional person.

What to put in the summary

Say what you build (design systems, checkout flows, data-heavy dashboards), the framework you are strongest in, and that you care about speed and accessibility if you can back it up. A link to a live project beats an adjective.

Frontend developer with five years in React and TypeScript, mostly on checkout and account flows. I measure my work in Core Web Vitals and support tickets, and I have taken two component libraries from “mostly consistent” to documented and tested.

Example summary, written for a fictional frontend developer.

Sample bullets with numbers

Performance, accessibility and error-rate numbers read well here because they are easy to verify. Name the metric and the before and after.

  • Cut largest contentful paint on the product page from 4.1 s to 1.9 s by splitting the bundle and lazy-loading below-the-fold widgets.
  • Built a shared form component set used by nine teams; duplicate validation bugs reported to support dropped by roughly a third.
  • Brought the checkout to WCAG 2.1 AA after an external audit, fixing 41 issues and adding automated axe checks to CI.
  • Moved a 120-component codebase from JavaScript to TypeScript in six weeks without pausing feature work.
  • Shipped the redesigned account settings page, which lowered abandoned password resets by 18% in the first month.
  • Introduced visual regression tests for the 30 most-used components, catching styling regressions before release.

These numbers are invented to show the shape of a good bullet. Use your own, and leave a number out rather than guess.

Key skills to list

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Next.js
  • CSS and Tailwind
  • Accessibility (WCAG 2.1)
  • Jest and Testing Library
  • Playwright
  • Vite
  • GraphQL
  • Storybook
  • Web performance
  • Figma handoff

Put the framework you would choose for a new project first. Mention accessibility and testing explicitly; many job posts ask for both and screenshots of a portfolio do not show them.

Common mistakes

  1. Linking a portfolio with only tutorial clones. One real project with a write-up is worth five.
  2. Saying “pixel-perfect” without any result attached to it.
  3. Leaving out accessibility entirely, which many employers now screen for.
  4. Listing jQuery, Bootstrap and Angular 1 next to current tools without context, which dates the page.

A layout that suits this resume

Compact fits skills, tools and education in a side column so the first page keeps room for shipped work and performance numbers. See the Compact template, or compare all 22 layouts.

Frontend Developer resume questions

Should I include a portfolio link?

Yes, one that loads quickly and shows two or three projects with a sentence on your role in each. Keep the link in the header so it is not lost in a PDF.

How do I show design sense without being a designer?

Describe collaboration: “implemented the new design system tokens with the design team” and a before-and-after metric says more than the word “design”.
