See how your resume reads against the basics recruiters and applicant tracking systems look for. Get a score out of 100, a breakdown by area, and fixes ordered by what helps most. Add a job posting to see the keywords you match and miss.

  • ✓ Runs in your browser. Your resume is never uploaded to a server.
  • ✓ No AI and no made-up numbers: the score comes from fixed rules, listed below.
  • ✓ A guide to a clearer resume, not a promise about any employer’s system.

Free. No account. No upload: your resume is read in this browser and never sent to a server.

What the score checks

Seven areas, 100 points in all. These are the same kinds of checks the Folio editor runs while you write, plus a closer look at your bullets.

  • Contact info

    15 pts

Name, a professional email, phone, city and a LinkedIn or portfolio link: the details a recruiter needs to reach you.

  • Summary

    10 pts

A two-to-three sentence summary of the right length, and a headline that says what you do.

  • Experience quality

    30 pts

Roles and bullets, the share of bullets that carry a number, the share that open with an action verb, and bullets that stay short.

  • Skills

    10 pts

Whether you list enough concrete skills, in plain words, for a reader or a keyword search to find.

  • Education

    5 pts

Whether an education entry (a school, degree or course) is there to be read.

  • Formatting and ATS safety

    20 pts

Readable text rather than a picture, standard section headings, dates on every role, a one-column reading order, and no icons or symbols that turn to junk.

  • Length

    10 pts

A word count in the range that fits one or two pages. Too short and too long both lose points.

What it can’t see: whether your achievements are true or right for the job, how a human will react to your story, or how a particular employer’s system is set up. Treat the number as a prompt to look again, not a verdict.

Questions about the resume score

Is the resume score really free, and do I need an account?

Yes. The score, the breakdown, the fix list and the job match are free, with no sign-in and no email asked. You only pay if you later download a clean PDF or Word file from the editor.

Is my resume uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file or pasted text is read by code running in your own browser, and the score is worked out there. Nothing you add on this page is sent to a server or stored by us. If you choose to open it in the editor, a copy is saved in this browser (or in your account if you are signed in).

Does it use AI?

No. The score comes from fixed rules you can read on this page: counting sections, checking contact details, measuring bullets and matching keywords. That is why the same resume gets the same score every time.

What does the score measure?

Seven areas that add up to 100 points: contact info, summary, experience quality, skills, education, formatting and ATS safety, and length. Each fix in the list shows how many of those points it is worth.

Will a high score get me past an employer’s applicant tracking system?

No tool can promise that. Employers use many different systems, configured in different ways, and a person usually makes the final call. The score checks the basics that most systems and most readers care about. It is a guide to a clearer resume, not a guarantee of an interview.

How is the job match worked out?

Folio picks the skills, tools and phrases that stand out in the posting, then checks whether each one appears in your resume as a whole word. You see the ones it found and the ones it did not. Add a missing word only where it is true of your work.

Which files can it read?

Text-based PDFs, Word (.docx) files and plain text. A scanned PDF or a photo of a resume has no text to read, so export a text-based PDF from Word or Google Docs, or paste the text instead.

What happens when I click “Fix these in the editor”?

Folio opens your resume in the editor, filled in from what it read, with the job posting loaded if you pasted one. Editing is free. Preview free, $2 unlocks everything in paid, including PDF and Word downloads, for 24 hours from your first use.
