Who it suits

Split centres your name and contact details at the top, then divides the page into two balanced columns: your main work on one side and skills, education and other facts on the other. It suits creative, analytical and project-based work where a balanced page looks designed without heavy graphics.

How the layout works

  • A centred header with name, headline and contact line.
  • Two columns of nearly equal weight beneath it.
  • Short accent rules under headings; compact spacing in a forest green.
  • An optional small photo above the name.

ATS notes

Split has two columns, so it is labelled Creative rather than ATS-safe. A parser that reads across columns may interleave them. Use it for applications read by people, and test the text export before relying on it.

When to pick something else

You have long bullets, because narrow columns break them into short lines. Choose a single-column layout.

Tips for filling it in

  1. Keep bullets under two lines; the columns are narrower than a full page.
  2. Put the sections you most want read in the left column.
  3. Use compact density for a long resume and comfortable for a short one.

Split template questions

When does Split work best?

When your bullets are concise and you have a good number of sections to balance. If your bullets are long paragraphs, one column reads better.

How is Split different from Compact?

Compact has a narrow left column and a wide main one. Split has two near-equal columns under a centred header.
